Are you a writer? If so, do you struggle to tell others?
Over the past few years I’ve realized this was one area of my life I wasn’t comfortable proclaiming to the world or myself. I couldn’t say I am a writer. I couldn’t get past the fact that I barely passed English. All I could see were the blurry images of the red correction marks in my memory. With those two thoughts continually at the forefront of my memory — how could I be a writer?
It’s crazy that I didn’t feel like a writer, although I have been published in books and magazines. I have even written Bible studies, eBooks and have blogged for years, but to say I am a writer did not come naturally.
Then I came across Jeff Goins work and website. You have got to check his work out! I subscribed to receive his FREE eBook Writer’s Manifesto (I encourage you to do the same!) and my writing life and heart was changed. I’ve realized my passion to write is me. It’s what I’m called to do — create challenging art that changes lives with words, descriptions, and stories.
Jeff has a new book, You Are a Writer, coming out soon. You will want to get this. I have been honored to receive a copy to review and once again Jeff has nudged my heart and shown me the importance of my words. He will do the same for you!
Here’s a few quotes that jumped off the page and into my heart:
It’s a choice, writing is. One that belongs to you and me. We get to choose it (or not) every single day. So whether or not the world hears your message — whether you leave the impact you were born to make — is entirely up to you.”
Until you acknowledge this — that you are a writer — you are depriving the world of a gift it longs for. One that stands the test of time. One that could leave a legacy.”
Writing is mostly a mind game. It’s about tricking yourself into becoming who you are. If you do this long enough, you begin to believe it. And pretty soon, you start acting like it.”
In You Are a Writer Jeff goes on to give the simple steps you can take to trick yourself into sharing your voice and story as a writer. It’s a book where practical steps are listed so understandably that he sets you up for success. Whether you write to leave a inked legacy, blog to reach the world or to be published, Jeff Goins has the steps you need to take to be successful. Thank you, Jeff, I can now say I am a writer!

Hi Alene,
The first Write It, Girl last fall helped me realize I’m a writer. It was a big and wonderful step. This sounds like a book I need to read. Thanks for the review.
Blessings,
Laura

It is so freeing to realize you are a writer, that you can say it and claim it. You will love the new book. Great steps to help you succeed. I give it thumbs up and many stars!

I don’t know if I’ll ever be brave enough to say it first… it’s always like my “hobby” or whatever. But I hope, one day, to own it fully.
