I opened the mail and there it was a huge box of “Simply Marvelous” cards and a beautiful card box for storing and sorting cards. My heart soared, as I remembered how I love cards! When (in)courage asked if I’d like the opportunity to blog about DaySpring cards in exchange for some — I jumped at it. I mean, pounced! It was almost like Christmas.
As I sat there with all these cards, my mind began to reflect back. I tried to recall when the last time was I received a hand-written note. Not a text, facebook post, or message, but a real hand-penned note.
How about you, when was the last time you received a handwritten card in the mail? Come on, do tell? Was it a blessing to your day?
Chances are, it’s been awhile since we are all so internet savy now. And I think we’ll all agree that when those hand-written cards come these days they are sure treasures. I don’t know about you, but I keep most of my cards in a huge Blessing Box I have. Love to reread them ever so often.
But as I sat staring at the cards wondering who to write and if a little card would make a difference, I wondered who needed encouragement, a prayer note, or just a note to let them know I was thinking of them. Oh my, the names quickly out grew my cards. . . my friend who just went through a divorce, a friend whose daddy just went to walk with Jesus, a friend struggling, and a friend who just conquered a milestone. Yes, everyone needs encouragement!
I was so blessed to receive this collection free in exchange for my honest review, but I want to bless you too. For every comment, facebook share or retweet (make sure you mention @alenesnodgrass) of this post (in)courage and DaySpring are offering one of YOU $20 off a DaySpring order of $20 or more. Yes, we’re doing a Give Away!!!!
A random drawing will be held on Monday, January 30th (4 days from now) and the winner posted. The winner then will be contacted via email with the $20 gift code from DaySpring. When using the code, the winner will be responsible for shipping charges. The code expires on 12/31/2012 so you have almost a year to use it.
Do you love receiving cards in the mail?
What has been the best encouraging card you’ve received?
Oh yes, do tell!

I LOVE receiving cards or letters in the mail. Anything that is NOT a bill!
Christmas is my favourite time of year, for obvious reasons, but also b/c that seems to be the only time of year I get REAL mail anymore!
It brightens my day when I see a HAND-WRITTEN envelope.
I received a card just last week, in what appeared to be my Gram's writing… which would be miraculous, since she passed on Christmas Eve 3 years ago. Of course, it was not from her, but from my aunt instead. However, Gram never missed an occasion, an opportunity, or a reason to bless others with her thoughtful letters/cards. With hundreds of friends, dozens of grandchildren, many extended relatives, she NEVER failed to recall a birthday, anniversary, occasion to bless us w/ her thoughtful, loving heart. I miss my Gram everyday… but especially on MY OWN birthday b/c I know I won't be receiving her call (or message on my answering machine) & I won't be getting that special message from her in the mail. She was the closest thing to a Saint I've ever known… & she truly taught me the meaning of LOVE, like Jesus loves… unconditionally. I know I'll see her again in Heaven someday, but I still tear up when I think of her… I miss her so.

Someone in my Bible Study sent me an encouraging hand written note a while ago. It is pinned up on my bulletin board. And you know what is silly? It's an added bonus if the card is pretty.

I do love sending and receiving cards, either in the mail or handed to the recipient directly. I am in a card-making group that creates and exchanges cards monthly. We also donate hand-made cards to nursing home residents who are not able to get out to shop for cards. They can then send the cards we donate to their loved ones. I'd love to be in on the giveaway – I love all greeting cards!

Just yesterday, I received a card from a blogging friend I've never met. She's committed herself to sending one hand-written card each week to someone this year. It was a beautiful, encouraging message, and it felt so very good to be remembered.
Beautiful box of blessings.

I met a wonderful friend via Ebay! We began
exchanging email exchanges about out lives
and how much we had in common. Then, I sent
her family a card for Christmas. In early January,
I received a card from her that read like an
interesting book. It was such a thrill. I also
have each of our family members sign every birthday, special occasion card, etc., that is
sent out from out home.
There is nothing like a handwritten note and
I try to send one to the shut-ins from our
church. Many thanks, Cindi

This is great, thanks! The most encouraging card I have received to date was from an elder and his wife. It was beautiful and just knowing they were praying for my health issue was uplifting. It was a very gracious card.
