Yesterday I was out running last minute errands. While checking out of one store the cashier began to talk about the storm that was coming. I replied, “I am SO NOT IN THE MOOD for this hurricane!”
Another lady waiting in line whipped her head around and said, “Lady, WHO IS?”
Touché – Great point by her. Stupid comment by me!
We are never in the mood for the storms of life. Do we ever sit around and say, “Just bring it on! I’m prepared. I’m ready. Bring it!”?
I guarantee you I never say that. Storms of life come and go everyday in every persons life. All we can really do is prepare. I am thankful that the hurricane tracking systems these days are pretty accurate and we can prepare for the storms. We know when to prepare, where to go and when to come home.
On the other hand most storms of life happen in the spur of the moment. Tragedy hits and there is no time to prepare. If we haven’t spent our life preparing, praying and practicing the presence of God, we are left in the storm without any type of life preserver.
As I pack suitcases today and cram precious personal belongings in my car, I’m thankful I have the advanced notice to prepare and leave as tragedy is lurking nearby. However, I’m most mindful that tomorrow is 9-11 and there was no advanced warning for those precious souls.
I have this photo framed and on my desk. It is a picture taken by a friend who was at the Towers when the enemy struck. She took this that morning at 6:30am on her way to meet her family at the towers. Her picture is one of the last ones taken of the Twin Towers. You might have seen it in Time Magazine. It’s the coolest with the sun beaming through in a cross reminding me God was there – just as He is here.
I keep this picture on my desk to remind me that EVERY moment and EVERY day is precious for I DO NOT KNOW what tomorrow brings. I don’t even know what my next breath will bring.
I’m Amazed at the peace God provides amid the storms of life!
Lord, watch over the Gulf Coast. Be our shelter, refuge, strong tower and protector! AMEN!

I’m praying this storm will lost all strength and power. That it will not frustrate the plans of the Lord, esp. in regard to the LTL conference. I pray for the safety of all the coastal residents. Lots of love and prayers going out to you and the gulf coast residents.

Awesome beauty profoundly scripted prior to moments of untold tragedy.
It’s the way of things, don’t you think?
You’re right about storms. Are we ever fully prepared for their strike, even with a good 48 hours notice?!
Thinking of you all during this time.

Have had you in my thoughts and prayers as Ike has been heading your way.
You are right, we don’t know what the next moment will bring, but we do know that God is in charge of all that is about to transpire.
God Bless you and keep you, and make His Face shine upon you.
