Have you ever had those days when nothing — I mean NO-THING — goes right?
You begin contemplating if it’s time to throw in the towel or if it’s time to fight through the craziness. You question. You wonder.
Crazy days are hard! And if you are anything like me, they make you want to tuck your tail and run. Or worse, quit.
As I’ve stopped for the one this year, I’ve been amazed at how blessed I’ve been through the experience. Others said, “just wait – people will take advantage of you.” And to this date, I can honestly say — no one has. Well, all except . . .
the day I wanted to quit
A women who needed help called. I was there and helped arrange contacts to help meet her needs. She became a little demanding through the process and we had some great conversations about being thankful when others blessed her. With a friend, we delivered some furniture to her apartment along with two huge bags of groceries. It was a day I’ll never forget. If we could sit and have coffee, I’d tell you all about it.
Having not heard from the women in months, I figured she had moved on. That was until I was having the above mentioned crazy day and I get a phone call. Let me just tell you the message she left was one of anger and accusations. It infuriated me. It burned me up. It made me want to quit.
My insides were boiling. How could she accuse me of things I didn’t even do? Why did she think I wanted to step up and help again after listening to her harsh angry tirade?
Jesus whispers keep loving
Trying to process what was rolling through my mind, I was drawn back to Jesus and His word. There’s no stipulation for helping only those who are nice and appreciative or kind and considerate. Jesus never says to only help those who will love you back and lavish you with praise. No, He says go and serve my people! Serve People.
Believe me, I was looking for an out that day. I was looking for the perfect excuse to quit. I was begging for an out. But Jesus kept whispering, “serve my people!”
Have you ever stepped out to help someone to have the whole thing backfire on you?

Oh Alene! We seem to always be on the same page. Wouldn’t it be fun if we could work together? But I guess God wants you there and I’m suppose to be here.
Keep going for the one. Guess what the title of my post is today? Leaving 99 For the One. See? Same page;)
