Last week was my birthday. It was full of friends, family, and celebration. One of the most amazing moments was the dinner with my hubby and kids. The laughter and time together was priceless.
We shared and celebrated. I opened gifts and felt so loved. My hubby handed me a card.
The card was thick and full. The contents in it slide around. I confessed he had me wondering what kind of gag this gift might be.
As I opened the beautiful card ten gift cards spilled out everywhere. $5 gift cards. Gift cards to Whataburger. I was amazed!
Then hubby says, “This is so you will always have something to give those in need. I got the idea from the ebook you wrote.”
That was such a precious moment. I can’t wait to give those gift cards away, because I know that will be ten people I’ll get to stop for and shine Christ’s love upon for that moment.
If you haven’t received my eBook yet, go HERE for information on how you can get it for FREE.
Do you have something you carry around so that you can bless others in the spur of the moment when you see a need?

Oh girl….this made me cry! What a precious gift and a precious husband who would think of such! Reminds me of how my husband surprised me a couple of years ago by buying $5 gift cards from McDonald’s for me to give to every volunteer that works at the crisis pregnancy center where I volunteer. We have very thoughtful men don’t we!
I LOVE this idea of just having them with you to give to people who need it NOW! May have to encorporate it myself! Thank you so much for sharing this!

Happy Birthday, a bit late, Alene. (As you know, I’ve been away leading a writing retreat.) I adore this post–what a great husband you have. And I’m with you, nothing beats a birthday spent celebrating with your family.

Instant tears… I am want to be moved to action. Hear my heart here… I have truly carried grief for 3 years searching for a church home, along with my husband and children. I carried heart-heavy grief because I desperately want to be used to reach the lost and the least of these for Christ. We were deeply wounded leaving our last church. We were wanderers.
Last Saturday, Husband and I attended our first leaders meeting for a new church plant we have been asked to be a part of. This is truly a dream come true — we will be planted and grow and BE IN MINISTRY… oh how my heart has yearned for this opportunity — 3 very long painful wandering wondering years…
Well, your heart and your life just fuels my passion. I wish I could hug your neck, and cry for the ones that God’s heart beats for…
I love you, Alene…
I saved all of your ebooks — I can’t wait to read them!
Also, will you pray for my daughter’s friend?http://www.alifesurrendered.com/2012/05/a-call-for-prayer/

Michele – you make me cry. I know those feelings all too well. I can’t wait to hear more. It’s been a crazy week. I’ll email more. But I’m so thankful you and your hubby and following God’s call on your heart. Girl – that’s called obedience! Praying for your friend.

Oh, what a brilliant gift! What a blessing to have a hubby seek you out like that…to stay in tune to what would sharpen you most. love this, friend!
I remember while growing up, whenever we encountered a homeless person asking for money, my dad would invite them to come along and eat with us. Even if we had just eaten, he’d still go to Subway or whatever was close and get us a treat and them a meal. he engrained in us never to give them money, but to give them something that would benefit them most. food. nutrition. clothes. which is why I love your food giftcard idea! perfect!!
