It started as a normal Monday. Dedicated time in prayer, followed up by a meeting that normally lasts an hour or two. Then it would be off to run errands.
I was ready. I was prepared. The meeting went great. Monday was a go! I left for my next appointment and all the systems were launched for a fabulous week . . .
that was until I realized I had missed a phone call.
as soon as I noticed the call from my cousin, another cousin texted.
your cousin has been in an accident.
28 year old said cousin is in one hospital in ICU unresponsive.
and her 15 month old baby girl in another hospital stable. (thank God!)
STOP
That was the cue for stopping. Time to alert prayer warriors, call cousins, round up family and get to the hospital to be with family. Of course none of us expected our day to go this way, but we all stopped to recognize the immediate need.
It was a day of remembering that life is all but a breath. As I crawled in bed last night, I got a call that my cousin was beginning to respond — squeeze hand, move toes, and her eyes were responding to light. It was then I remembered how precious those small things are. Those small things that are really HUGE things!
Stop and enjoy those you love.
And will you please join me in prayer today for my cousin, Melisa, she is still critical in ICU.
