After talking about mentors yesterday, I decided to call mine after about having a come-apart late in the afternoon. We chatted and I shared my soul. To get a little personal, I think I was just having myself a full-blown Texas-sized pity party. Ever been there? You’re at a pity party and you’re the only one there. That was me and it was totally no fun!
I knew this phone call would mean I’d have to snap out of it. (by the way, that’s why you need a mentor too) But being truthful with my friend and mentor I laid it all out there — my ugly, hurting, and stressed heart. (aren’t you feeling sorry for me?) As I shared, she listened. As I shared, I felt like a brat. When you talk through your frustrations with your mentor you will see they aren’t quiet as bad as what the mess seems in your head. (another reason why you need a mentor)
But then her wise counsel came. “If you don’t feel as close to God today as you’ve ever felt then you need to readjust.” OK – that’s my paraphrase, but seriously WOW.
I knew an adjustment had to be made.
It was time to stop, listen and acknowledge Him – the master Creator and Maker of all. (if you are an email subscriber click here to view)
I walked outside and listened. The cool breeze was calming. The birds chirping brought happiness. The trees swaying made me feel alive again.
If you have a mess going on in your mind and you’re the only one attending your pity party – stop and listen.
Use some time this weekend to outside and see the beauty. The beauty filled with His majesty. It’s all around. Don’t let your frustrations and hurt keep you from seeing the Master Artist at work. He creates daily for you to see and enjoy.
Oh please, stop and listen this weekend. He makes everything beautiful!

Those quiet moments of actually listening are so uplifting.

Oh Lisa – they certainly are. I so hope you find some time this weekend to do just that…listen. It’s beautiful!

It really is important to stop and listen to the beautiful things. Or just acknowledge your beautiful life. :)

Alene, this is off topic from your post above, but I wanted to respond to your post on my Organix Keratin review, and I didn’t want you to miss it…so here I am! I just wanted to say that my summary of the product is that it will help with frizziness & improve the overall health, shine & look of your hair…but do NOT expect it to straighten your hair. It’s a lot of work, but if you have a weekend free to put in about 3-4 hours, and to have greasy locks for 48, it’ll pay off with prettier hair, even in high humidity…from my experience. Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Thanks so much for the info. I might just have to check it out. Thanks for letting me know girl!

It has been a week for being shaken I think.
I was having a mixed up, churned up, I can’t figure out which way is up- day and wanted to talk. Called my brother and he was sick, he coughed and sniffled and I didn’t want to bother him with my woes when he was sick,
so I cried.
I called it our misery loves company club.
But it could have been called a mutual pity party too.
Positively Alene says
Oh goodness girl – mutual pity-party’s are not good. Find you a good mentor or friend to spur you on your journey. I will say a prayer. So sorry for a week of being shaken and mixed up. That is not a good place to be, as I’ve been there before. Hang on — a happy place is coming soon. Trust and wait in HIM!

I’m going to be doing just that this weekend, Alene. listening–not the pity party ; )
love your heart, girl — thanks for encouraging me by being your raw, real self!
Positively Alene says
Yep – don’t do the pity party. :) Listening is marvelous. I took more time off this evening to just listen to nature around me. I love Spring — what a reminder of a new life, new attitude, and new day!

I do that a lot of times Alene, go out and listen and admire the marvelous creation of our Master Artist. Listen to the birds, watch the squirrels oh and those clouds, can you see a character in there?
Thank you for stopping by at Pondered Thoughts and leaving me such an encouraging comment. Glad to know that it was just what you needed that day. Blessings!

I spent some time sitting in the yard yesterday watching the birds. It was very nice; it didn’t stop the migraine that I knew was on the way but it did make me feel better for a while before it hit. Have a great weekend!

I love that – stop and listen. SO simple, but oh-so-powerful. This is why MY coach advised me to meditate daily. It’s amazing how much more calm you feel when you just pause for a little bit each day.

Oh, just what I needed on a Monday! I didn’t stop and listen last weekend, but I will this evening. Thank you, Alene!
