Do you ever feel like a shrinking violet? One who is fearful, timid, or sitting on the sidelines.
Are you afraid of what the world has to offer or what others might say?
Sometimes we think that’s the best place to be . . . sitting on the sidelines. Oh but it’s not! In sitting on the sidelines, we miss life. We miss the opportunity to become all we were meant to be.
I’m honored to be a part of Mary DeMuth’s launch team for her new book “Everything.” Mary writes:
You have the chance right now to be yourself. To love or work or perform or dance or sing or be uniquely you. Here’s a warning. Some people won’t like it. Some will send you letters about your errant ways. Some might ridicule you. Don’t let that criticism shake you or make you shrink from being yourself. Be all you.
I’m reminded of a scene from the movie Akeelah and the Bee where Akeelah is afraid. She knows she has a gift. A gift that baffles others. But her past tells her “she’s not good enough, she can’t, people like her don’t succeed.”
As Akeelah starts competing in various spelling bees, she discovers her gift also affects the lives of her family, friends, fellow competitors, teachers and the residents of the inner-city neighborhood she calls home. They harass her, they question her — but through her perseverance in developing her gift their lives are changed for the better. Her example shows them that they too can be more.
As her family and friends begin to cheer her on, one says
“If you want to win this spelling bee, you can’t be a shrinking violet?”
“Dare to be brave today, and trust that when you extend your wings, you will fly,” so beautifully put by Mary DeMuth. If shrinking back is a struggle, oh how I urge you to get her new book. Mary will challenge you, she’ll prompt you, and she’ll help you be brave realizing that with Jesus on your side you can be everything you’re called to be!
Mary’s new book Everything will be available next month; however, she has a special offer for anyone who pre-orders her book during the next 48 hours. Yes!!! Thanks, Mary! This book is incredible. It seems every page speaks to my soul and I know it will to many others as well. I love taking photographs – I didn’t have one of a violet, so I figured us Texas girls would love bluebonnets. :)
I cheated on the Everything black pic — I took a screenshot from my PDF preview copy from you.
Thank you for this journey!

Ah! Yes! The PDF. That’s where it came from. Thanks.

I used to sit on the sidelines and be a shrinking violet but not anymore! I want to be out there in life and bloom into whatever He wants me to :)
And I love Mary Demuth. I’m just finishing up Wrecked. I’ll check out this book next.
I hope you’re having a GLORIOUS day like we are here in the south.

I’m so glad you aren’t a shrinking violet anymore. If you were, I’d miss those awesome stories you tell of ministering to the homeless. This book by Mary is awesome. Reminding myself that it is all about Jesus being my Everything!! Have a great weekend friend.
