I’m writing from a hotel room in a country halfway around the world. It’s a country very different from yours and yet also similar. We watch children perform on a stage at a night bazaar and minutes later walk through a Red Light district with children of the same age being forced to do things that are unthinkable to most adults.
Later, our Executive Director and I visit three locations in the hopes of gathering information on trafficked victims. The girls are lined up behind a window (the fishbowl), each with a number clipped to the tiny straps of their dresses. #36 immediately stood out, making me think of my own girls asleep at home, so far away.
Some of these victims don’t know it yet, but Rescue is Coming. It’s not coming from a power we don’t know; it’s coming from ordinary men and women like you and I.
