There is no doubt, friends are important in your life and they either lift you up, or pull you down.
Most of us have probably long since let friends go that discourage us. We finally realize we have enough negativity to deal with without their help. So bye-bye friend!
On the other hand, encouraging friends are a joy to have. They always have an uplifting word and a smile when we are down. They are the ones cheering you on along your journey.
However, an encouraging friend may not be loyal. A loyal friend has your back at all times. They look out for you. They are friend enough to speak the hard truth when you need to hear it. They will risk your friendship for the sake of wanting the best for you. Listen to them, they speak the truth in love.

I sometimes think that I don't have a lot of friends because I don't know how to be the patronizing type. I'm not so good at faking excitement over things that are less than….and I can't stomach those that are professionals at it. I may be too butally honest at times. I actually told a dear friend one time that the ladies group she was trying to join (and invited me to dinner with) was a bunch of fake hippocrits who were all about who they knew, who they hung out with, and what brands they wore, sat in, cooked with, and drove around! They hadn't even bothered to remember her name or what her husband did for a living. And she had been meeting with them for over a year.
My heart ached for her efforts theat fell beneath their propped up noses. I think I hurt her for pointing it out. But the next month when she was supposed to host the get together. She called me in a panic the night of the dinner. She was at the restaraunt at a table for 15. By herself. I left the kids with my mom and flew up there as fast as I could.
We had a great dinner (and lots of drinks) just the two of us! At a big round table for 15. And no one was missed!
That is the best story. So glad you were there for her. I'd love to have you be my friend and take care of me. :)
