I’m not sure what you do when you need a little pick-me-up in your day. If you have a great secret to share, oh please do tell us? I’m always looking for that extra perk around 3pm.
One of my pick-me-ups is to run to McAlister’s and grab their fan.tab.u.lous tea! If you are a tea connoisseur, you will agree hands-down that McAlister’s is the best pick-me-up. Fresh, clean, crisp tea — nothing like it!
As I run out to grab my pick-me-up for the day, a large cup of tea (thank goodness McAlister’s is just a mile away), I find myself having a conversation with none other than myself.
Why isn’t a spiritual pick-me-up this easy? If only, I could run to the corner and pick-up a cool drink of Living Water and immediately feel refreshed. Maybe I’m missing something in my walk. Or better yet, maybe I need to fast?”
It was then I was reminded of fasting. Maybe it was about giving up my earthy fixes so I could be picked-up while seeking God more diligently. Quickly my mind was drawn to scriptures in Isaiah 58:6-9 MSG
What I’m interested in seeing you do is:
sharing your food with the hungry,
inviting the homeless poor into your homes,
putting clothes on the shivering ill-clad,
being available to your own families.
Do this and the lights will turn on,
and your lives will turn around at once.”
Consuming more tea will not pick me up. More encouragement will not turn my attitude right-side-up. No, what will turn my life around is pouring out in to other’s lives.
sharing food
having guests over
clothing those in need
giving to others
Once my eyes are no longer on myself, my life’s attitude will turn around immediately!
Today my pick-me-up will come from pouring out and giving to others. Ah yes, that’s just the pick-me-up I need! Serving, sharing, giving!
What’s your favorite pick-me-up?
How can you pour into others lives today?

LOVE the MSG version of Isaiah 58! Can’t believe I’ve never read that. And you know that was the text of the sermon at the church in Guatemala… hmm. Yes, there’s a great strength and peace that comes when we stop whining and start helping.
btw I have a great recipe for frozen a coffee I call “suzachino.” AWE-SOME summer pick-me-up :)

I know! Sometimes I just need that break down of plain-simple-straight-forward English to grab my heart and shake me up. Hmmmm – I think I need that recipe friend. Hope we can visit soon.
