I think I might have issues!
Do you know the limits to your personal space sphere?
My personal space sphere is normally pretty small. You could say, I am very much a hugging and touching type of person. It’s part of my inbred personality. However, I’ve learned over the years that the normal space for most people is three-to-four feet.
Seriously, I don’t set out to hug and touch everyone. It is so natural I usually don’t even think about it. But realizing each of us has different measurements for personal space I do try to take mental notes as I read people. If they back up, no need to hug. If they move away when I touch them, make a note.
I realize today though, there is ONE place where personal space is a huge thing for me. And that my friend is at the gym.
When I’m on the treadmill and there are only 25 other vacant ones, do you have to come run right beside me?
Now if I know you then having you right beside me would be great. We could talk and that would make the time go faster.
However, if I don’t know you, could you please just schooch over one machine?
I never thought I had personal space issues, but amazingly I do!
Do you have any issues with personal space?

Ok so I’m LOL. I love your transparency here, cause aren’t we all like that? Well, except for the person who chose the treadmill right next to yours. There are common knowledge rules about these things that that person just never learned.
1. Always leave an empty chair between you and someone you don’t know. (Unless there are no other options.)
2. Always stand on the opposite wall of an elevator from another person. If all walls are taken then stand in the middle. After that begin utilizing the corners.
3. Always leave an empty treadmill between you and another runner if you don’t know that runner. (Unless there are no other options.)Just print several copies of this and tape it to each treadmill to educate those who have never learned. Ha! :D

Will people just never learn?
Have a great day. -
Alene,
Thanks for greeting me to blogland. ; ) I am slowly learning how to be transparent as evidenced in your stories as well as diligent about writing and reading. I love how reading your stories feels as if I am having a conversation face to face. I love your treadmill story which I am sure alot more people are like you than different. Also am encouraged by the prayer story. If people only understood the true power of prayers. And I am also deeply encouraged about your son. We really can raise our kids to love and fear God in the current society we have. I pray all the time that I do something right. I just want my kids to learn very early on to live their life for Him! Thanks for your words of wisdom, laughter, and encouragement. ; )Melissa

Although I love talking to people, I hate to admit it but I’m one of those people who cringe inside everytime someone gets in my face (space) or reaches out and pats or touches me while we’re talking! I have gotten to the point that at least I don’t change my facial expression anymore when it happens though. ha Maybe I will keep improving! I grew up in a family that hugged very seldom so I guess that is where it stems from!
So nice that there are people like you who take hints….like when people back or move away….and realize that’s just the way we are…and you’re not offended. Thanks! Wish there were more like you!

I have space issues, especially with people who feel the need to constantly kiss me (not family) but others. Maybe because I’m the pastor’s wife, maybe for other reasons, but it kind of freaks me out.
Hey…thanks for asking about us. Hanna blew through all night and left us without power for about 7 hours, but we are fine. After Floyd, Hanna seemed like a whisper.

The more stressed I am the more space I need. I am stressed today and my youngest son who is a hugger reached right over and gave me a hug, bless his heart! but it made me gasp for air!
Please post the Mensa hugging dots chart and a sticker sheet with Edie's list and we all may make it through the day!
