For whatever reason, it seems the last few weeks have been screaming by and I’m left seeing a blur out of my peripheral vision. That blur caused me to miss meetings and phone calls. (note to self: when things change at the last minute make sure you write them down, Alene) Mercy!
My heart and soul have been crying out for a break, a breather, a pause. I wanted to sneak away for to refocus and refuel. Well, that was impossible to fit into the schedule so . . . I tried chilling out at Starbucks to refresh myself. I even tried capturing some peace at the Sonic drive through at happy hour! (Hey, $1.08 for a Route 44 unsweet peach tea is a good deal!) Yep, I tried many tactics – all but taking a “pause for the real thing – coke”.
When I saw there wasn’t two days, or one day for that matter, to get away I came to my senses and realized Coke, Starbucks, or Sonic were not the kind of pause I was looking for. What I needed was a mental pause to refocus my mind on where true refreshment, vision and purpose come from! God’s Word.
As I sought the word for encouragement God spoke to the still of my soul (Alene inserted for Israel) . . .
Why would you ever complain, Alene, or, whine, Alene, saying, “God has lost track of me. He doesn’t care what happens to me”? Don’t you know anything? Haven’t you been listening? God doesn’t come and go. God lasts. He’s Creator of all you can see or imagine. He doesn’t get tired out, doesn’t pause to catch his breath. And he knows everything, inside and out. He energizes those who get tired, gives fresh strength to dropouts. For even young people tire and drop out, young folk in their prime stumble and fall. But those who wait upon God get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles, they run and don’t get tired, they walk and don’t lag behind. Isaiah 40:27 Message
Hallelujah, our Lord never tires or pauses. He is always there to give fresh strength and energy as we wait on Him. A God pause is a good thing!
If you are needing a pause – pick up the real thing – God’s word and be amazed!

I love this post… yes, our God is the REAL THING!! I think my favorite part is where you inserted your name into the scriptures. My mom used to have us kids do that when we were little and we weren't walking in love with one another. She had I.Corinthians 13 written out on a note card with a 'blank' where the word LOVE usually is. Only we had to read it out loud and insert our names there. We all remember it very well. My mom says that her favorite part was watching us practically choke on the part that we were 'lacking' in that moment. Too funny!! But it worked! Proof that God's word is ALIVE!!! <><
Blessings and Hugs,

Now you are reading my thoughts, WOMAN!!!
I'm aching for a break, but I also love doing what I'm doing.
God has refreshed me – and He does it in an instant! I sometimes forget that I'm connected to a well-spring of life, energy and peace.
Whatever I need, God is ready to give it to me. I just need to want it!

Awww… the "captivity of activity" that seems to suck every bit of energy and strength we have. I CAN RELATE! When we lose focus, our activities subtly pull us away from our ultimate source of energy, the Lord Jesus. Thank God through you for the reminder that we need to "pause" more often in the day and seek our true "source".
When I reach for my afternoon iced coffee to get my "boost", I'll pause and ponder in God's Word to truly get energized & refreshed!
Blessings, Alene~ I'm thankful God has crossed our paths.

I love how you put your name in there. I'm going to try that. It really helps to make things more personal.
Thanks for stopping by and offering to pray for Aaron! He just got out of surgery, and I can't wait to post about how successful it went!

Alene I love your post. I too have been very busy and tired and God gave me this scripture a couple of weeks ago. Isaiah 40:27. I have even struggled to write on my blog still, but God is telling me to write. This morning He told me to write. So I finally sat down and wrote. I wrote My Story. Finally.
