I have been fretting the day my FAVORITE pen runs out of ink. It’s the last pen I have and PaperMate doesn’t make them anymore.
But today I can breathe a little easier for awhile. I was cleaning out a closet. Gasp-I know! There it was buried deep DEEP down in a basket full of old cards.
Should I treasure this last pen, set it on a shelf or use it?
What good is a gift if it just sets on a shelf?
God might ask us the same thing. Remember the servants who were entrusted with gifts/talents?
The servant given one thousand said, ‘Master, I know you have high standards and hate careless ways, that you demand the best and make no allowances for error. I was afraid I might disappoint you, so I found a good hiding place and secured your money. Here it is, safe and sound down to the last cent.’The master was furious. ‘That’s a terrible way to live! It’s criminal to live cautiously like that! If you knew I was after the best, why did you do less than the least? The least you could have done would have been to invest the sum with the bankers, where at least I would have gotten a little interest. Matthew 25:24-27 The Message
PaperMate doesn’t even make this pen anymore. I don’t want the new Erasermate or Write Bros. NO! I WANT THE PLAIN JANE PAPERMATE!!!
Amazing, there is always something to be said about an original. There’s none like it!
If you happen to see this original anywhere PLEASE let me know.

HaHa! Cindy beat me to it! :) I have to say, I totally understand your situation. I have favorite pens too and have had them discontinued to my dismay. The grieving process is hard but you will get through it Alene, I promise. :P
I love your analogy too. I have thought about that scripture many times. We are now studying Spiritual Gifts in my SS class. I am really excited about it and praying how to combine these with the skills He has given me to fulfill His purposes.

Girls, I’m being so serious! Cindy, you will be #1 in my books forever if those black ones can replace my fav’s. I’m using my ink wisely until then. I’m sending you my email now. Much love.

I didnt know they don’t make them anymore either!! I’m shocked. I have a few floating around my house (some with the lids chewed up). I wont be treating them like that anymore.

I guess I’m too into pens to find this post funny. ;) Not having your favorite pen is serious stuff. I have a favorite pen. Someday soon I’ll blog about it–we can share stories. (I’ll link back to you.) I lost my favorite pen one time. Well, not just once but several times. I’m always devistated. Every time I lose it, finding it is impossible until I pray and ask God to find it for me. And He does! It is the coolest thing. I don’t know if it is a game He plays with me or if He is pounding His forehead, wondering when I’m going to grow up and be more responsible and less forgetful. But either way, my favorite pen is something that I have that reminds me that God is a finder of the lost! Oh how I love my pen!
Thanks for this post. It was great!!!

I’m glad to know I’m not the only picky pen person out there! I can’t can’t can’t wait for my pens. You gals crack me up and make my day.

So funny!! E-mail the company and tell them that you miss that pen and see if there is a response. You could get them put back on the shelf. Love YA!!!
