Are you ready for a fresh start? Oh how I am.
About this time every year, I begin to feel the twitching of new goals for the new year ahead. It’s as if my body knows it’s time for a fresh start.
Leave Your Mark
As the Mayan’s left handprints to put their signature on their artwork, I feel by the end of December my mark has been left on the previous year. The art I’ve created and lived out as left it’s permanent mark. There’s no erasing the works of my hands, so my soul is ready to map out a new year.
Visiting Cozumel a few months ago, my hubby and I took a day trip and toured the Mayan ruins. Knowing that today (12-21-12 the world’s end) was quickly approaching, I wanted to know more. Our tour guide was the best. Full of knowledge and passion for this culture.
As he explained the culture and their calendar, I found myself intrigued.
Their calendar has nothing to do with the world ending, but yet everything to do with a new beginning! I loved the concept.
So, longing for a new beginning, I’m turning Mayan today. And you might want to be one too? Yeah, I bet you do! (watch the video to get that line) Here’s a video my son made a few years ago, “Wanna be a Mayan?”

OK, so the video has nothing to do with anything other than a good laugh. But I’m serious, there’s no going back. Today is a new beginning for me.
The start of something new.
The old has gone. The past can’t be rearranged. While the ruins of the past stand firm, they can’t be moved. So, today I begin anew.
So, what’s new?
Over the next week, I’ll be sharing changes in my heart. Changes here on the blog. Changes! Do I like changes? Not necessarily. But these changes have been stirring in my soul for awhile, so . . .
I’m going Mayan. The old calendar ran out. The new is ushered in.
What about you? Could you use a new calendar to help you move into a new future?
You wanna be a Mayan?
