Trying to meet some writing deadlines today, I found myself staring at a blank piece of paper with nothing to write, so I posted on Facebook “Where do I begin?”
As I sat there a little longer the melody to the theme from Love Story began to form in my mind. The next thing I knew I was singing it, but I had forgotten all the words. “Where do I begin? blah, blah, blah . . . great a love can be . . . doo doo doo deeee!”
Hallelujah for google! Looking it up – this is how really goes —
Where do I begin?
To tell the story of how great a love can be
The sweet love story that is older than the sea
The simple truth about the love he brings to me
Where do I start?
How do you begin to explain the greatest love story? Whether it is the love story of Christ (the best Valentine gift ever) or your hubby it is hard to explain. Especially because that line – “Where do I start?” doesn’t even rhyme with the rest of those lyrics and that totally throws me off.
However, as Valentine’s approaches everyone is singing love. But maybe, just maybe — some of you out there are blinded – like I once was – by what real love is. I use to think it was fairytale like with a happily ever after ending every day!
Well, watch below. I soon realized or should have realized otherwise. This is where my love story started amazingly some 27 years ago.
Leave a comment and let me know how your love story began.

Well, hmmm…too cute…and BTW we do have Whataburger in AZ.
Nearly 30 years ago my hubby and I we sitting on his couch planning our wedding when he got down on one knee and said: "Well, I guess if we are going to plan a wedding, I guess I should ask you to marry me". That's it! Not super romantic but it worked. Here we are married almost 29 years with too many stories and memories to share, still together, still doing silly things and still loving Jesus!!!
Congrats and Happy Heart Day!

Alene, I loved that!!! It was so well done and you are just adorable. I don't hear the Texas twang…..maybe because it sounds so similar to my north Georgia twant??????
My love story is long…to long to tell here.
You are precious, my friend. Have a wonderful day.

Thanks for sharing your start and that you are still 'keeping on'. Beautiful video and message.
Mine started in Colorado Springs with my man who couldn't wait to pull that ring out of his pocket and ask. It wasn't in a fairy tale setting he asked but it is still going happily ever after. Our 'carriage' has managed to go over the bumps in the road. I'm thankful for God's grace in my marriage. Thanks for the blessing in this video. I love a good love story! B

Alene, first of all, I must say that you are just adorable in that video! I'm so proud of how tech-savvy you've become! :) And have to say I'm loving the hair! You are so right when you say that love doesn't always happen like a fairy tale. Here's my story..
I was a young 19 year old college student, working my way through school at a local grocery store. One of my regular customers at the video counter where I clerked apparently was VERY impressed that I knew HIS name (Tim) every time he came in. (Little did he know then that I made it a point to know EVERY customer by name)! He fell in love at first sight, and….long story short, pursued me pretty aggressively. He said he knew from the moment he saw me that he was going to marry me. Most girls would swoon at that..not me! I thought he was pretty arrogant, actually! :) He was 11 years my senior, had been married/divorced, and I just KNEW my grandma wouldn't allow me to date him. An older man, with a past! But, she did allow me to go out with him, so we started dating. He was wonderful to my grandma and won her over! She told me that love doesn't have an "age", real love is all in how he treats you, and it's obvious that he treats you like a queen". Two weeks into the relationship, he took me to a nice restaurant and proposed, with a ring. I actually told him "let me think about it". Needless to say, I crushed his heart that night, but not his love for me. I thought I loved him, but marriage? REALITY CHECK! He loved me enough to wait for me. I came around, accepted his proposal, and married him at the age of 20 (he was 31). We have celebrated 23 years together, have three wonderful boys and are still working on it daily. We have a regular date night, and he's always a very thoughtful husband! I am truly blessed for sure!!

Awesome! Love the video. You look amazing!!!
I remember when I realized that love wasn't all a fairy tale. It was an interesting moment for me, but I took it like a champ!

I loved the video, Alene! I remember that night so well. We were all so happy for you and Curt. This brings back a lot of memories. When Dan proposed to me, we were at his house, and he asked me to sit on his weight bench, and he got down on one knee. That was the "official" proposal, but when I first had the clue that it was coming was when he took me out to eat and then asked me if I wanted to go look at rings.
