God said, “I love you.” You replied, “Really? How have you loved us?” “Look at history” (this is God’s answer). Malachi 1:2-3 MSG
Today is the day that everyone seems to be focusing on love. We’ve turned this four-letter word into a day of commercialism where we show those we love our “true love” and devotion.
But if you are any thing like me, Valentine’s Day is just another day. Don’t get me wrong — I love the attention and the gifts. However, it’s not the nice gifts, candy, nor cards that show me how much others love me — no, it’s their actions every other day of the year. The scripture above reminds us God loves us, but also sometimes we question that love. So God says, “Look at the history.”
If you are doubting God’s love this morning, sit down and make a list. The evidence is there — He loves you! Pick up the incredible “love story” book He left you and read it — it is full of evidence.
If today you find yourself doubting the devotion of someone who has just lavished you with Valentine’s presents, sit down and make a list. Look at the history, is the evidence of true love there? Ask yourself, do they show me respect every other day? do they speak kindly to me on any given day? do they treat me with special care showing that love?
One way or another — the history is there — look for and examine it.
For some fun this day of love, here’s a video I shot a year ago sharing about my “true love”, my hubby and how he proposed to me. Look at the history . . . true love, for sure!
Aliene says
Yes, I am thankful for God's love for me.
Couldn't watch the video but will later.
My husband and I have 52 years of love. He just got out of the hospital and I told him just having him was enough gift for me. We feel
blessed.
