If God created sex for the married couple, shouldn’t married Christians have the most passionate, romantic, and exciting sex life?
Yep, the whole world is talking “sex” – oh, but not us! Shhh, we’re Christians.
Is it time to add some zest to your marriage?
If you’re stuck in a routine or your passion has grown stale — your marriage can be “hot” again. I promise it can. You need to break out of your old habits and put forth a little creativity. It might be awkward at first, but sparks can fly again.
A few years ago I decided to spice things up, set the mood and leave a spark of anticipation for Hubby. Upon buying a two-piece lingerie set (it was hot!) I had the brilliant idea to give Hubby each piece separately with a cute little (seductive) note.
Hubby found the first piece I had hid and was left anticipating what was coming next. Oh my, what a cute plan I had – it was working! While he was at work I had the most incredible idea – I’d drive to his work and leave the second piece out in the front seat of his car with a love note.
Oh, I was so sneaky. Nobody saw me – I was good.
Later that afternoon the phone rings.
“Babe, hmmmm – I had to give the Commander a ride today. What were you thinking?”
Embarrassing then.
Hysterical now.
So, my ever-so-clever plan had a glitch in it, but I have to say the purpose worked ever-so-cleverly. Yeah, Baby!
Do you have some good ideas for spicing up the romance in your marriage?
I’d love to hear them. Shoot, I’d love to try them.
Cindy says
Oh goodness my friend, I am laughing so hard I can hardly type.
No hints, tips or ideas from this old married woman. Things sort of changed when hubby got sick.
But, boy I will love coming back by here to check out yours and others ‘hot’ ideas!!!!
You are just too funny.
twondra says
That is so funny! Cute idea!
I don’t have any ideas, but I’m definitely checking back to find out some. :)
Edie says
I’m cracking up with you Alene. How embarrassing!
Sorry I’m not married so no tips. :)
Tammy R says
Too funny!
It looks like I’m in the same boat as most of your blogging friends…no ideas:)

OK Girl ~ Why don’t you go ahead and do a few more posts like this.
I’m sure we really aren’t all without ideas ~ probably just not willing to post them so publicly.
You know ~ it’s about sex and the Christian ~ someone might find out!
Hehehe!!!
Lakendra says
Alene, you naughty nymph! Who knew you were such a hot tamale?! As you know, I’m not married yet but I will definitely keep your seductive foray in mind (hopefully minus the embarrassing part) when God delivers me my husband. :P
Dawn Ward says
Okay, Alene. I'll play. One year for Valentine's Day, I found an online florist that had a Chinese takeout box with chocolate in it. The outside was decorated with the whole XOXOXOXOX thing in red and white. I ordered one and had it delivered to hubby at work. Rather low-key, right?
Well, I also found online a kimono, which I ordered..in red!
I called him and asked if he would pick up Chinese take-out for dinner.
I then put pillows on the floor around our coffee table complete with place settings for the food when he arrived home. I greeted him dressed in my kimono…only my kimono!
Needless to say, my samurai enjoyed his geisha that evening!
(Was I supposed to say that? Is that too risque for a Christian blog? :->)
BTW, this was before we had a child! Hmmm, I wonder if I still have that kimono?!?
Alene says
YEA Dawn – Great idea! Cute too.
You crack me up!
Kim at Let Me Start By Saying... says
Well. Now the Commander knows your husband is a very happy man. Nothing wrong with that. ;)
Eva Gallant says
That was really a clever idea on your part! I'm sure the Commander went home and told his wife the story and they both had a good laugh!
Saimi says
HA! Now there you go, that Commander was thinking what a lucky guy your husband is and probably wishing his wife was just as clever.
Anna at www.mylifeandkids.com says
HYSTERICAL! I'm going to be laughing about this one all day long!
Thanks for linking up to Finding the Funny. Hope to see you next week!

Hahahaaaaa!!! This cracked me up!! That is so, so, so awesome. I love it. That totally made for a good story, though! Loved that you linked up with #findingthefunny. You'll be back next week, right?? :)
Alene says
Hmmmm – didn't think about the Commander telling his wife. Shoot maybe she tried it too. :) Y'all are cracking me up.

We found a website that has lubricating lotions. It's great for older couples. We also bought a dice game that was a lot of fun.
Sometimes you just have to get away for the weekend. Be sure to have great music…something romantic without words works for me.
Also, taking your time to seduce each other like you did when you first married. Don't be so "goal" oriented. Enjoy the journey without thinking about the final destination.
Sparkling says
That is EXACTLY why I can't try things like this! I know how they would backfire. Any time I've ever tried to be spontaneous in my life, there's always been some major malfunction! Hysterical! Found you at Anna and Kelley's link up!
Anna at www.mylifeandkids.com says
Hey Alene, Your post was one of the top 5 most popular at last week's #findingthefunny! We're featuring you tomorrow – hope to see you then!
Anna
Alene says
Sparkling – yes, normally things backfire on me too. But it makes for good humor as time passes.
Anna – YEA!!! Can't wait to be featured. Finding the Funny was a great link-up. Thanks.

Saw your feature at My Life and Kids. (Congrats!) I loved reading about your little “mix-up” and I totally agree with you about the taboos associated with sex. To be honest, I really don’t believe that God intended it to be that way.
We might not be newlyweds anymore, but 1) we’re not dead yet and 2) that’s what makes it so much better. After almost 30 years, there’s an easiness and sense of knowing that didn’t exist when we were younger. (and it doesn’t hurt that we’re empty nesters, either. LOL)
My suggestions? OK… A little R&B, a silk scarf or two, candles, a lightly scented massage oil and I’ll leave the rest to the imagination. “Clothing” (of your choice) is optional. ;~)

Oops – too funny – thanks for sharing! And enjoy your SITS day!
Positively Alene says
Thank you girl!
Kimberly says
Hysterical! That would be my kind of luck too!
Stopped by from SITS today :)

Yep – I totally didn’t think that one through to clearly. Oh well – can’t live life too guarded!
Laura says
So fun to see the posts you love. Great post. And so true…shhe, we’re Christians. Happy SITS day.
Krystle says
Lordy! I would have died. I get embarrassed too easily. I would have never wanted to see that man again. I don’t have any ideas but I could sure use some! It’s hard juggling everything and mixing in some real romance.
Positively Alene says
There’s some pretty cute ideas in the comments. :) Gotta make time even in the busyness of life. Just plan a little better than I did, so you are not surprised!!!
misssrobin says
Awesome story. Whether your husband was embarrassed or not, I’ll bet his boss went home a little jealous.
Kristi says
That is SO SO funny!!! I had something similar once but not really funny. I left a love note on my husbands car and one of the people he as counseling was caught reading it! She had been getting too friendly and it was all really creepy. At least the commander wasn’t a stalker!! Happy SITS day!! new followers here!
Positively Alene says
That is kind of creepy weird, but I am giggling. I might have been a little jealous too – hmmmmm, did she keep going to counseling??
mz.dolphin says
haha funny.glad that it still worked at the end lol
happy sits day ~
Lisa says
This is a fun post. You know growing up, it is all “Good girls don’t” I had a hard time transitioning to “Good girls do”. But I have found that maturity and my kids growing up a little bit has totally enhanced my love life. I mean at least I don’t have a four year old puking over me in the bed anymore.
Positively Alene says
Cracking up, Lisa! Totally hear you here. :)
OneMommy says
That. Is. Too. Funny!
I love your idea, though… And I bet now you guys can both laugh about it!
Happy SITS day!
Jamie H says
Too funny!! Sounds like something that would happen to me! I bet everyone is still laughing about it and that he hear about it at work for a long time! Happy SITS day!!
Jester Queen says
Oh my GOD that’s hilarious! I’m giggling just imagining your husband there. I write out sexy tickets – I make them look like train tickets — and put them under my husband’s pillow
Positively Alene says
Ooooh la la – I like that idea!!!
Teresa (Embracing the Spectrum) says
that is so funny, but I definitely wouldn’t be able to look that person in the eye again…
Teresa (Embracing the Spectrum) says
Oh, and Happy SITS Day!
Positively Alene says
Thanks girl and yep – totally fun-for-the-hills embarrassing!!!
Anne says
That’s so hysterical! And downright embarrassing! But I’m sure your hubby was just as spiced up. Enjoyed this a lot!
Martine | Work at Home Mom Writer says
I totally believe in God-created, mind-blowing sex for Christians!!!
This anecdote was HIGHlarious. I love the twist! :)
As for me, I build up the excitement with hints. Since we both work at home, sometimes I unbutton my shirt just a taaaad more to give him a little tease. I also send a racy IM every so often, throughout the day, since we work in separate parts of the house.
Patricia says
My husband is in his 12th year of Parkinson’s, so very hard to plan … but … very fun to talk about what we’ll do when his energy is back, how we’ll feel, what we’ll say. Oh, and there is always spontaneity, because we never know when his energy is back … but … when it’s back ….
Tinsel & Tine says
Well, your plan was to spice things up, having a 3rd party involved really accomplished that!
Unfortunately, I’m never in a relationship long enough to need spicing up :(
Anyway, wonderful blog and photography – Happy SITS Day!

OH.my.word. Hilarious and yet embarrassing.
At least his commander knows he has a healthy marriage, right? LOL
Sarah@ThereSheGoes says
HAPPY SITS DAY! Sorry if these seems late but I’m catching up on posts that I’ve missed since we moved recently. We’re military so this is a common occurrence! You mentioned that your husband had to give “the commander” a ride – is he in the military?
I got a great laugh out of this and even read it out loud to my hubby who laughed at it as well! Very cute idea too! I’ll have to tuck that one away for later this year after I have baby #2!
