Is there a stirring going on in your heart? Are you having a hard time explaining what is changing?
That was me a few years ago. I couldn’t figure it out, but I knew that something was changing within me. When clarity began to shine forth through the fogginess of my mind, I got scared.
The knocking on my heart was calling me to the inner city. It was just 7 miles away, but it was unfamiliar ground. The decision to go caused me to step out of my comfort zone and move past my own “me first” world.
Arriving there to serve, my heart was broken. The needs were great. I was wrecked!
What is wrecked?
As Jeff Goins writes in his book, WRECKED, wrecked is being “Ruined. Devastated. Undone. Lives forever changed, and there’s no returning to how life used to be.”
That’s exactly what happened. I was ruined. The same routine of life just didn’t measure up. My life had been changed and my purpose became clearer.
But others are getting wrecked too. I was downtown Sunday serving when a friend showed up to serve. I hadn’t seen him in awhile. Then after visiting for a minute he said, “Alene, I’m here because of what I read on your blog — you can’t get hurt sitting on the couch.” Read the post HERE. Friends – that’s a quote straight out of Jeff’s Goins book WRECKED.
“It’s hard to get your heart broken on the couch.” <–Tweet that.
How you can get WRECKED today?
1. Began asking where you can serve others to make a difference. You don’t need to travel to the foreign countries, it can happen in your own backyard. Once you get your eyes off yourself, you’ll see endless opportunities. Being wrecked comes in many forms, because there are so many needs. Step out of your comfort zone and get wrecked today!
2. Order Jeff Goins book Wrecked: When a Broken World Slams into Your Comfortable Life. Your eyes will be opened by the thought-provoking and heart-stirring stories within.
If you sense you were made for such a great purpose, to make a difference — you were. You were purposefully made to serve others and bring joy to them.

I love this post! Completely agree that the needs are right in our backyard. We just have to be willing to see them. Look forward to getting to know you better!

And once you become sensitive to brokenness, you find it everywhere you look. Love you and your sensitive heart :)
