Have you ever had those moments, days, or even weeks where the world seems to stand still? It’s as if you are living life, but you can’t hear the sound of the world around you.
When life’s twists and turns throw you and I off course it is as if we long to hear something. Maybe a word from God, from a friend, or a loved one, but all seems silent. You turn your ear to hear, but all you can make out is static.
Remember the old record players (yep, I’m dating myself here) where you’d put on the vinyl 45 and slowly, but cautiously, put that big needle down on the album in hopes of hearing the music.
I remember day after day wanting to hear and come alive to the beat of my favorite song, but yet when the needle was worn out all there was to hear was static. No melody. No words. No song.
Recently, while I craved to hear a focused word, I received songs. Not songs with static, but songs with messages.
If you are here today and are longing for a word or song to fill you while your world stands still, I will lend you the songs speaking to my heart. May you hear a word and be blessed.

Isn’t that amazing! I missed a phone call on Thursday evening. It was from a Texas area code but when we called back they hung up without saying a word. Was my brother at their house? Did he ask to use the phone to call me? I don’t know. Not even static, just a ‘click’. Okay, I won’t bother you people. But I keep wondering. And at church on Sunday the songs that we sang were words he has spoken over and over to me. Verses that I know because of him.
Romans 8:28 He makes all things work together for my good
Deuteronomy 6:5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your mind, with all your strength

Amy – I know you wonder and wait. My heart aches for the longing you have for an answer from your brother. Those scriptures are awesome. I needed to be reminded today of just how awesome and immense our God’s love it!

I remember the 45’s too! My mother has a closet full of them still, and yes, I remember the static.
I don’t believe I’ve heard the songs you mentioned. I’m going to check them out, thanks for sharing.
I love the praise songs such as The Heart of Worship and The Stand, From the Inside Out. But I also love the old hymns, way to many to list…just take the whole Baptist Hymnal and any one of the speak to me:)

Kristen – girl you need some 45’s!!! I agree there are so many incredible songs to sing these days that lead our heart to God and His holiness. I too love the hymns, takes me back to my childhood. Precious memories!

Yes I’m younger per say, but I remember the 45’s well and loved my Saturday afternoons spent in front of them at my grandma’s house! :)
Wasn’t it Hans C. Anderson who said “where words fail, music speaks”…
it’s why I start each week in worship on my blog. prepares my heart for the words to come (Lord willing).
beautiful, Alene and am enjoying the music you shared with me–thank you!
All for Him,
Nikki

Music speaks so loudly. It’s a language all it’s own for sure and one God uses powerfully to reach the heart of His people. I love the way you start your weeks. Hope you are doing well. I feel disconnected!
