If you are anything like me, you can get so wrapped up in serving others that you forget to stop and rest.
Your soul needs to be refreshed.
We over look the value of rest because we are a ‘doing’ people. However when we run and run and run, burnout is around the corner.
Burnout is not good for us, nor the people we are serving. God knew our souls and weary bodies would need to rest. He created the Sabbath (day of rest) for us. But we rush through it week after week taking advantage of the gift he gave. And then before long we wonder why our body is screaming it needs rest.
Refreshing times come through downtime with the Father. Maybe you’re like me and you can’t rest on Sunday, but we can make it a point to find a day or a few hours where we can.
Sneaking away to soak up God’s beautiful nature, turning on beautiful relaxing music to relish the lyrics, or spending a day with loved ones is many times just what the soul needs.
One of my favorite things is to sneak-away with my camera and capture God’s beauty. There’s something about being in the open with my eyes fixed on God’s creations that sooths my weary body. What soothes your soul?
It’s time to let your soul breath.
As we run hard and step out of our comfort zones to love others, let’s not forget how important rest is to our journey ahead. To remind myself, I will be posting ‘rest-stops for your saturday’ frequently.
Is resting hard for you?
How will you find refreshment this week?

Resting is hard for me. I always feel guilty for just sitting around doing nothing! Thanks for the reminder that I need rest, and that it’s okay to rest. Blessings!

This is the 3rd message I’ve received on this subject this week! I guess God is really trying to tell me something. And you are so right; REST is so important. Thanks for the great reminder! And the beautiful photo!
