I sleepily logged on early this morning to see twitter feeds going crazy with the tragic shooting in Auroa, Colorado. You’re probably hearing the repercussions too. If not, read HERE.
My heart stirs, it beats faster, it rages. Not only for the fact that this senselessness is insane, nor for the fact that my daughter was at the midnight showing here in Corpus Christ, but for the sanctity of human life.
What have we created here in this country where mass shootings come far too often for no apparent reason?
Some one gets mad and angry. BAM! 12 precious people are dead, 50 injured. Hundreds are left processing the pain, and the world watches with fixed eyes.
My soul screams ENOUGH!!!
We’ve raised a breed of people that are so self-focused. Human life was not meant to be lived focused on yourself. It was meant to be lived out for the sake of others.
Things Must Change!!
If we could but raise a generation that got that — that’s it not about ourselves, but others — things would change.
You can not live your life serving others and not have love for human life. It’s impossible! <—- tweet that here.
My heart cries in shock and pain. It hurts. It wants to run and hide.
But What If?
What if we as a community got angry and mad, screamed ENOUGH, and served others more fervently?
What if we were the generation that started a revolution?
What if?
How has your heart been impacted by this tragic shooting?
Sharing over at Gypsy Mama’s.

Well said! Hadn’t thought about “enough” being a rallying cry for positive change in our culture. So glad you shared and that I stopped by!

I guess, as I listened to the reports coming in , my heart was stirred more to get busy, more than to get angry in this situation, Alene.
We, as believers, and FOLLOWERS of Jesus, have been given every avenue, every day to be Jesus to the lost, the hurting, the scared, even the broken one’s – and if we don’t reach out, especially in times like this tragedy, regardless of where we live , and ask ” are you ok today?” or ” how can I help, or pray, or encourage you?”, then what good is our following Jesus, if we don’t act on what we say we believe?
The grief is palpable to Colorado, how can it not be? But tragedy isn’t just there – its everywhere that you, or I walk.. Someone is always empty, hurting, lost, broken – and its our steps to those people that they will find there is hope in that pain.
so, lets just be that One Stop kinda gal that you are being to your area, and lets break out of our lack-a-daisacal faith/religion, and practice walking in the shoes of Jesus, with the Heartbeat of Jesus, to those that are hurting so badly where ever we live.
Positively Alene says
You are so right Karen. The hurting are everywhere! We’ve got to love more and teach others to love. I’ll be walking in Jesus shoes

I was sickened to read of these events. It is so bizarre and senseless. It had me thinking of the shooter and wondering what went wrong? What sent them over the edge? Maybe it would have taken just one person to save him from himself and his choices. One kind person, one kind smile, one friendship. I don’t know…all I know is we can all do more.

My brain tried to wrap around his thoughts and what could posess him to do such a thing. But my soul cried for his dad. The news were all up in his face. I can’t imagine how they must feel. And of course those who went to have some good-clean fun at the opening night of a movie that met their life’s end and tragedy — no words there!!!

It makes me sick when things like this happen. I feel so deeply saddened for those who have lost their loved ones.
What bothers me is that taxpayers will pay for this man as he lives the rest of his life most likely in some mental ward. He didn’t snap in my opinion, he had this planned out for some time. Why can’t people like him just kill themselves and leave the innocent people alone. I do like what Lisa.

It is scary and tragic. My mind and body didn’t want to leave my home yesterday, but I realize my home is only false security. My faith and security are in the Lord alone.
How we as Christians need to rise up and love all people. Be the example. Be the hands, feet, and heart of Christ in this world!
May we all start now!
