I’m so excited to be sharing over at Susan’s I hope 4 Him today. We’re talking about jumping, taking a step, and flying. You’ve got to check it out because there’s an invitation waiting there for you.
While we’re on the subject of jumping, stepping and flying, have you ever taken a bold step only to fall?
Falling hurts.
It never fails once I get up my nerve to actually jump in to new territory and do something new, many times I fall. And the fall leaves me feeling like a failure. I question myself. I bicker and of course, I say “I’m never going to do this again.” My ego is bruised and it hurts.
Falling is awkward.
When I take a step of faith it seems like everyone is watching. Does it feel the same way to you? And let me tell you, it’s not a pretty step when I jump out boldly into the unknown. I wobble to and fro, I sway, and I even skip a few beats. And the next thing I know many times that stumble leads to a fall. And I feel like everyone just witnessed my awkwardness.
Falling is necessary.
Learning the hard way, which seems to be my way of learning, I realize that those awkward falls are so necessary. It’s in the falling that I learn to get stronger if I force myself up to try again. I think of Moses and how he must have felt like a failure 10 times as he ventures back to Pharaoh begging for him to release the Israelites. Character is built when you overcome your failures. I’m so thankful Moses picked himself up 10 times and persevere for such a great example. Want to learn more about Moses, join me for Summer Graffiti details here.
What about you? Have you fell lately? Do you wish you could succeed without falling?
But before you fall, you first have to jump, take a step, or fly. Be sure to stop over to Susan’s for your invitation.
Linking up with Lisa-Jo Baker as we talk about falling at Five Minute Friday.

“Learning the hard way, which seems to be my way of learning,” I can relate to this, friend. Failures seem to be the best teachers.

grateful that we serve a God who helps us overcome, and he takes our failures and redeems them. may we all learn more from these lessons of surrender

Dear Alene
We don’t have a problem when we fall and fall again and again, dear one. But we have a big problem if we stop trying because of the fear of falling again! We learn from the mistakes of others, they say, but if this is true, who will be the “others”who make the mistakes?
Much love XX
