We’ve been looking at our God-sized dreams and callings. We’ve tackled what if you don’t have a dream anymore and what to do if your dream is dormant. I hope you’ve been encouraged if you find yourself in that spot, if not read this post on how to bring back the excitement of a dream.
Stepping into the path of your dream always takes braveness and courage. There’s something about taking those risky steps that wants to paralyze you. But you have to remember if God has anointed you with a dream, He is already paving the way. If you wondering if you’ve been called, listen in to my podcast “4 truths to being called.”
God doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called.
God stirred in my heart to step up and put together a women’s event on the inner city.
Of course, I had the usual doubt, questions, and fear. But I knew the dream had been placed there by God, so stepping out became more about obedience.
As the event neared, all was in place. I had found incredible women from the community to share their testimony. A team soon formed and every element of the day began to fall in place. But the crazy thoughts, “what if’s”, and questions wouldn’t leave my mind. I decided that since God had called this to be that every time those thoughts crossed my mind, I’d give it back to God. I knew if I was doing my part, He’d do his.
Fasting and praying.
The team and I agreed we wanted this event to share nothing but love to these women. We wanted to shower them with gifts and beautiful things! But coming off the heals of Christmas, I wondered if this would be possible.
Deciding the only thing I could really do was fast and pray, 10 days leading up to the event that’s just what I did.
I knew we were short on gifts, food, help, etc. The team had done our all, but I knew it could be greater.
When God comes through.
A week before the event, door prizes and gifts began pouring in. People and companies who had said they would donate a gift – donated 10, 20, and even 40 gifts. I was blown away.
As registrations continued to come in and I knew our help was going to be stretched. We needed so much man power from decorating to serving the girls the day of the event.
48 hours before the event kicked-off, I began receiving messages from women wanting to help. Most of them said, “I’m not sure why God kept nudging me to let you know I want to help you.” Some of them, I didn’t even know. Most of them had no idea about the women’s event. They all showed up to help and with that our man-power issues were solved. (to each of you thank you for obeying God’s nudge)
A dream fulfilled.
Last Saturday 135 women came together to learn that they were beautiful. No matter what their circumstances were telling them, they learned from Psalm 3:3 that Christ has gifted them with beauty!
Hairstylists, manicurist, and make-up artists came to shower beauty on these precious women.
Childcare workers came to watch 50 children, so that these women could experience a beautiful day!
Many men came to support, greet, lift, play instruments, guide our audio/video, and support this vision.
Being obedient is incredible!
Stepping out in obedience is a stretch. God always calls us beyond our comfort zones. ALWAYS!
Where is God calling you today?
Will you be obedient to bless others?

Wow. An amazing story, of obedience and faithfulness – and a call to action too. Thanks for challenging me again Alene.

What a great testimony, Alene. Yours is the second post I’ve read this week about fasting. Looks like God is speaking to me about that :)
Excited for our trip to Guatemala!

Thank you so much Susan! I am beside myself and soooo ready for Guatemala. Looking forward to meeting you, but certainly for what God wants to reveal that week. I’ll be fasting again the week leading up to the trip.
