Have you ever been rejected? If not, you’re not my friend anymore. Just kidding! Seriously though, I’m sure we’ve all experienced rejection to some degree or another.
What I’ve realized in my life is that all rejection seems so personal. Someone can reject an article I’ve written, a photograph I’ve taken, a thought I’ve spoken and I’m down in the dumps for days questioning and doubting myself. And while that is horrible to deal with being rejected by a person is ever worse!
I’m trying so hard to get over this — OK really I’m trying to get over myself! What difference does it make if someone doesn’t like my writing, photography, the way I dress, or anything else I do for that matter. And if someone rejects me as a person, why should l spend my precious time fretting over this for weeks?
In the big scheme of things the rejection itself really doesn’t matter. However, how we handle that rejection makes a huge difference. We’ll either get bitter or better.
When I first started writing OOOH WEE (Can you hear my Texas accent here?) I wanted to sulk for days after some of the rejections I got. You can read about that HERE in this months WHOA Magazine.
