Curiosity did not kill the cat, comparison did!
I don’t know about you, but I’ve spent many a moment on my journey to living with purpose comparing myself to others. What I’ve FINALLY realized is that I lose out on being me when I’m trying to be somebody else.
There will always be somebody whose purpose looks better, funner, prettier, messier, busier, and even more important-er. :) But we aren’t to waste our life by comparing ourselves to others. We are instead called to live our lives serving others.
Our purpose is to please God, not people. 1 Thess. 2:4 NLT
That’s it! Please God. Not people. Not our friends, family, co-workers, ministry partners. Just God!
When we waste our precious moments comparing what we have or don’t have to others, we miss out on the opportunity to use our gifts and talents. When are eyes are on others purposes, we have no time to step out into our own future to grow our own gifts and talents. Put your eyes on God. He’ll reveal that purpose as you seek Him and look to serve others.
Your purpose lies within you. Your purpose awaits you.
Rule for purposeful living: Quit comparing yourself to others, it kills the growth of your purpose.
Do you struggle with comparing your purpose in life to others life journey’s?

I was totally struggling with this last week. Comparing my vision and dream to the success of a local antique shop and feeling as though I would never be as good or able to compete in the market place.
I knew the enemy was just trying to get my eyes off of my goals and dreams and I found myself left open for attack. What they are doing is good for them, I need to stay focused on what God has for me!
Thanks for the reminder!

Comparing nearly got the better of me this past weekend when I was wondering why I couldn't keep up with everything on my plate, when it seemed like others (so easily) could.
Thank you for this gentle reminder that I am uniquely made and to remember my focus and purpose.
(and thank you for your sweet words of encouragement on my blog last night). :)

I have to say I've never had this issue. I don't know how not to sound contrite about it, but I just don't do it. I only compare myself to a better version of me–somedays I'm not at my best, so I try to strive for the better me–the healthier me, the nicer me, the she combed her hair me–and I don't think thats a bad thing.

Oh I have been caught up in comparison much more than I would like to admit. Great post! God has been talking to my heart about this very thing – I've got a post worked up about it too for sometime in this 31 days :)

This truth was a hard one for me to grasp (and I still struggle), but God is so imaginative, and He has exciting plans for each of us!!! Thanks you for encouraging us to follow our own path. There is so much freedom when we stop comparing!
