I realized this last week that I’ve missed two important dates. My anniversary and birthday!
OK – it was my blogiversary, birth date and 100th post. Just like me to miss something so very important.
Actually, what’s important is YOU! I have been blessed by YOU over the past year. This weekend alone truly proves that. I can’t thank YOU enough for your comments, phone calls, emails and text messages asking about my family’s safety. Your prayers and encouragement came always at just the right time.
As the storms path changed with each weather report, so did our plans. It was crazy but peaceful. Knowing you were praying was comforting. Please, please, please – pray for all those in the path of Hurricane Ike. We have wonderful friends living in the Houston area and it is BAD!!
YOU and your prayers got me through this weekend when my daughter up on the Texas/Louisiana border was experiencing tornadoes, power failure and hurricane force winds due to Hurricane Ike. Your messages and texts came at just the right time when I hadn’t heard from my son and come to find out he was out on the island. Surfing! OH, don’t even get this mamma started on that one!
I remember asking my hubby earlier this year, “Do you think I’ll ever get to meet any of my bloggy friends?” Well, I’ve had the opportunity to meet some of YOU and I was blessed. For those of YOU I don’t know personally yet, I feel like I do! YOU are a precious blessin’ to me.
I’ve learned so much about YOU the past year:
YOU watched me become addicted.
YOU love to party.
YOU love to pray. Please pray for our friends in Galveston and Houston!
YOU love a good makeover.
YOU wished me happy anniversary when I forgot. Oops!
YOU love a great laugh. (and your personal space)
YOU are a great fashioniesta. (tv spot was rescheduled due to the storm)
YOU amaze me!

I was just headed over here when I got your comment. I was been thinking and praying for you as I watched the weather reports as Ike was approaching. I’m so glad you’re all ok.
When you say your son was on the island surfing, you don’t mean Galveston?? No matter wherever he was it was likely not one of his better decisions. Glad you’re safe!! :)

Thanks Edie. I should have been clearer. He was at Padre Island here in Corpus Christi. Thanks for the prayers.

Well, my dear friend, I am just getting to know you and you probably don’t know me at all, but I am enjoying your blog. I just started blogging recently and feel like I have years of catching up to do.
I too have friends in the Houston area. They seem ok. What a mess. My heart just aches for those who lost everything.
I’m glad to hear that your son was not on Galveston Island!
Continuing to pray from Phoenix,
Cindy

Hey Alene,
I thought about you during the storm. Glad you are okay. Our area was hit by Hurricane Ivan a few years ago. You can still see the effects in places today. I pray especially for the poor in this. It is so hard to bounce back when they lose their physical possessions.
I saw a surfer from Galvaston almost crying on TV. He stayed and almost lost his life during the storm. He said…I will never do that again. He wanted to be one of the first surfers after the main part of the storm passed. He was shook up after a long night with Ike. He said on tv, “Mom, I’m alive”. His Mom did not even have to say…’I told you so!’ :)
Happy 100! I just wished Chatty Kelly the same. God may have all our paths cross before we meet in heaven. Who knows…maybe you and I will one day speak at an event together. With God, all things are possible. I believe!

Happy 100th blog. Thanks also for the encouragement to reach the same goal. Who would’ve thought that I could go to a conference and then end up staying close to people I’ve only met in person for a few hours? God is so good. Glad to hear that you and your family are doing well from the aftermath of Ike.
