Have you ever had those days, weeks, or seasons where you just flat out feel empty? Sometimes you can recognize what took the wind out of your sail (hectic schedules, life altering situations), but other times it’s just there — emptiness.
I wish I had a cure for the emptiness and a wand I could wave that would exempt us from that feeling, because feeling empty is a dark place to be.
Have you been there? Are you there now?
One thing I’ve learned is that during those times we experience emptiness, we can be patched up and healed through a deeper dig into God’s truth, love, and word. And while we dig in it’s the diligence of keeping our eyes on God and His blessings that help fill the hole.
This week I received the invitation to my son and daughter-to-be’s family wedding shower. Talk about pure joy and excitement, as well as a little momma tear!
What an incredible feeling, as I was pulling up the registry to purchase wedding gifts for my son.
Ah yes, the emptiness is subsiding as I think of all I am grateful for. Pure love coming down to fill that empty hole.
What blessings are helping you fill the emptiness you might be feeling?
Linking up with Gypsy Mama for Five Minute Friday today where we were challenged to write about emptiness, as well as Finding Joy as we mention our Favorite Things.

It certainly is easier to accept “empty” when we know the reason we feel that way. It’s more difficult when we can’t put our finger on the reason. I really like this part, “Pure love coming down to fill that empty hole.” Very nice imagery.

His Word never returns void. During my own seasons of emptiness, it was His Word that healed me.
Lovely post.

Alene, during my time of emptiness, clinging to Him gave me strength and a feeling of love that I can only find in Him.
Love the invitation!

Such a treasured question at the end: “What blessings are helping you fill the emptiness you might be feeling?” Love that! I think that’s the key, isn’t it? Filling the emptiness with blessings! Beautiful! My friends, my sweet husband, my community . . . too many blessings to count :)
Visiting from Gypsy Mama today and really enjoying your blog, Alene!

Congratulations on the coming of your son’s big day! What a beautiful time you’re in. I have 3 little boys and I expect I’ll shed a tear or 2 when their big day comes. Great post. I have been feeling in a stressful place for awhile now that has had me wrestling with emptiness at times. I recently joined a women’s bible study and that has helped. Being in the word really does make a difference…like, duh, I should know this by now, but sometimes it just helps to have the accountability of a group to really get you back in to what you needed all along. God is good!

Such a happy event coming your way. I love the idea of emptying myself in order to fill myself with God’s word. I need to watch less tv. :)
